Holidays! (Nov. 27-28)
I celebrated my first holiday! It was a double holiday.

My aunts Eliana and Einat came over and sang Hanukka songs for me.
Papa lit some candles.
It was very exciting.
The next day it was Thanksgiving. I understand this is a holiday that involves friends and food. Sounds good to me!
Papa and I bot got dressed up.
We went to Serena and Ed's. Everything about this trip was great: I liked being in the car, and I liked the attention once we got there.
Ed was cooking. I hear it was really delicious.
Auggie was upside down.
I watched closely, hoping to do the same one day.

Busy Weekend - Nov 23-26
I went to a party! It was great. So many kids, and cake!
My grandma read me a story about a flamingo, but I couldn't understand most of it; it was in French.
We had visitors from out of town; there were Aunt Miriam and Uncle Rob, Cousin Theo, and Cousin Jacob.
I ate and slept. And ate. And slept.
I ate and slept. And ate. And slept.
Oh, and I turned one month old! Here I am looking one month old.

I am 4 Weeks Old!
I can't believe how time flies. I've done quite a bit in the past few weeks: While I remained extremely cute, I have not quite learned how to sleep for as long as my staff would like me to; but I feel rather accomplished.
I'm working on my third chin and have developed some respectable chub. I have grown so much that by now I no longer fit into some of my newborn outfits.
(Pictured: Me not quite fitting into the outfit my mother was dressed in the day she first came home from the hospital).
My eye color has been changing. It is still a newbornish blue, but seems to be getting lighter. Most importantly, though, I've gotten really good at making eye contact. I am a good gazer.
(see me here wearing my SmartWwool socks as mittens, the hat my grandma made, and the blanket Marian knit for me!)
I make farm animal sounds. Lots of them. Most common are piggies, baby donkey, crow, goose, and sheep. I make them when I eat, I make them when I'm being changed, and sometimes I even make them in my sleep.
I have been meeting family members. Oma Lily came to see me.
My aunt Hedy and I had a really nice cuddle.
My grandma Carol took me on several walks. I went to the bookstore, the art store, and just around the neighborhood. I mostly saw my pacifier.
It was exhausting.
I have been given several nicknames. Mostly I go by Luli, but I've heard them use Gumbutz and גמדון (gnome). Ridiculous.
I started smiling. They are debating whether I mean it when I smile or whether these are not social smiles yet. Whatevs.
Oh, and I had a bad rash, and so got some bum airtime. My froggy nature is becoming more and more apparent.
The water torture routine really brings it out.
I keep it chill.

There has been careful rapprochement with the cat.
Anyway, time to sleep.
Good night, baby sloth!

Shock! Horror! Bath!
Today, Papa and Mama violated all that is right and good and I am trusting you all to hold them accountable. This was the evil instrument.
I have nothing further to add. There are no pictures.
Otherwise the day was good. Dodah Eliana came over. I was busy eating but was of course the center of attention.
Then I spent some time looking up at the ceiling. There were giraffes!
I found this labor exhausting...
But the words of Dodah Eliana roused me...
She had her rabbi book out.
I tried to follow but it was kind of over my head. So I took a powder.
Goodnight baby pig!

"Oh, Peer, I See We Are Splendidly Suited!"
Today I gave my version of the victory salute:
First, I discovered Miles Davis. Here I am fingering the changes to All Blues. Can you believe he recorded that in 1959?
Second, we discovered a hold that is great for my digestion.
Dig that, hepcats!
Fourth, I am just too cute for words.

The Flotz Genius
Today I displayed great mental acuity and hand-eye coordination. I stared at the mobile and gazed at my parents. They gazed back. It was very gazey.
But mostly I digested. I am becoming a master of the flotz, which requires some fuel....
And a lot of down time...
And still more down time...
When the key moment came my Papa was very thorough...
And then all was well again...
Goodnight moon!
Signed, Leo
